Buhari orders reinstatement of retired General, whose troops shot at him
President Muhammadu Buhari has instructed the Nigerian Army to reinstate Major General Ahmed Muhammed, with immediate effect.
Major General Muhammed is the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Division of the Army, Maiduguri, Borno State who was attacked by soldiers, who shot at his vehicle in September 2014.
Major General Muhammed is the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Division of the Army, Maiduguri, Borno State who was attacked by soldiers, who shot at his vehicle in September 2014.
The troops were said to have complained of him being insensitive to the welfare and the aspiration of the soldiers under him.
The troops also accused him of setting them up for them to be killed by Boko Haram as he allegedly ordered them to follow a route occupied by Boko Haram, which led to them being ambushed by the terrorist group.
The retired GOC’s vehicle was reportedly shot at during the mutiny but he was lucky to escape unscathed.
Mohammed was subsequently recalled to the military headquarters in Abuja and eventually retired.
15 months after that incident, the former GOC has now been recalled and is awaiting posting by the Army headquarters.
The soldiers (pictured above) that mutinied against him were later subjected to military disciplinary procedure.
