Soldiers of the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army
reportedly opened fire on members of the Indigenous People of
Biafra(IPOB) during a protest in Aba, Abia State today January 18th,
killing an unidentified member of the group. Local markets, schools and
Banks have closed
down following the violent clash between IPOB members and security
officers. The group is agitating for the creation of Biafra state and
the immediate release of their director, Nnamdi Kanu. See the graphic
